Mr. O’s Weekly News

August 8, 2023

Hello Falcon Fams!  Happy St. Dominic’s Feast Day!

We have some SUPER exciting news to share about promotions and new teachers!

Mrs. Trentman (Assistant Principal): after 11 years as a teacher, Mrs. Trentman is stepping out of her classroom and into all classrooms!  Beginning this school year, Mrs. Trentman will be serving as St. Christopher’s full-time Assistant Principal. Thank you Jesus!  She is a University of Dayton graduate with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. She will be supporting staff, students, and parents in our mission of molding students into extraordinary people with deeper faith, bigger hearts, and stronger minds.

Mrs. Farley (Art): I have been subbing at St. Chris for several years and am excited to be stepping into the art teacher position! I have studied art from elementary school all the way through college. I love sharing my creativity with kids, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with my family.

Mrs. Dodson (Kindergarten): I am an Oakwood High school graduate and have lived in the Dayton area most of my life. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Miami University in 2005, but spent many years working in the health care field.  I rejoined the education profession in 2017 and love teaching Kindergarten! I have 3 boys (all of whom will be joining me at St Christopher this year), 2 dogs, a cat and a bird. We love animals, camping, and board games.  I am looking forward to being a part of the St. Christopher family!

Mrs. Foster (3rd Grade): I am excited to be at St. Christopher! I have been teaching for over 25 years and this will be my 22nd year in a Catholic School. I was raised in a Catholic school, and I always loved my experiences in Catholic schools whether as a student or a teacher. I live in Piqua with my husband, Mike, and our two children. Our son, Cameron, will be a senior at Wright State Main campus. Our daughter, Torri, will be a freshman at Wright State Lake campus. We live on a farm, and I am the 3rd generation to live here. I enjoy walking, running, and doing Zumba.

Mrs. Hoy (3rd Grade): Hi! I’m Sandie Hoy, aka Mrs. Hoy. I have taught 23 years from Kindergarten to 4th grade, and 15 of those years were in Catholic schools.  I have been married to my husband, Doug, for 42 years. I have two sons and now 3 grandsons. I love nature, hiking, cooking, traveling and learning about new cultures.  I am really glad to teach in my home parish and soon to have a grandson join us here at St. Christopher.

Mrs. Weiss (Title I Teacher & 5th Grade Reading): My name is Dorothy Weiss and I am originally from Ft. Wayne, Indiana. I am married and have four grown children (a daughter in Michigan, a son in Virginia, a daughter at the University of Cincinnati, and a daughter in Columbus). I have also been blessed with two grandchildren. My husband and I have traveled and lived in many different places including Alice Springs, Australia. I received my dual Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Ball State University; and my Master’s Degree in Literacy from the University of Dayton.  I have lived in the Vandalia area and been a parishioner at St. Christopher for the past seventeen years. I have taught at St. Brigid in Xenia, as an Intervention Specialist and Title I Teacher, for the past ten years.  Although I was sad to leave St. Brigid, I am super excited to be at St. Christopher and closer to home.  I enjoy gardening, raising chickens, reading, and quilting. I look forward to getting to know everyone and to starting a new chapter in my life!

Mrs. Noelle Willey, MSW, LSW: will continue to be St. Christopher’s Mental Health Counselor, but she will be in our building five days per week this year instead of three.  Mrs. Willey is employed by the University of Dayton’s  ECHO (Empowering Children with Hope and Opportunity) Program. Mrs. Willey’s will start with us in mid-September.

That’s all for now!

Peace,
Mr. O’St. Christopher School Principal
