Hello SC Families,
I hope you had a lovely long weekend!
Here is a look at our week…
CALENDAR:

A FEW THINGS:
1. THE KIDS ROCKED THEIR BLUE TODAY! We enjoyed some delicious cupcakes to celebrate the Nativity of Our Lady. Happy Birthday Mary!
2. We had another great day of Mass Chats (that is what I have been calling them) with our priests! Today, Father Tran came over to introduce himself to the kids, talk about Mary, and discuss prayer. It was a great morning. Once the church is up and running, we will get Prayer Families started. Wooo!
3. Regarding the camper in the church parking lot- SGFP has given permission for one of the church maintenance workers to bring their camper for the week. Work should be completed, and the camper removed, by the end of the week. I apologize for any inconvenience and concern it has caused.
4. For those that ride Vandalia Busses: Starting today, one bus came to SC to pick up our students and take them to Morton for transfer to another bus. The kids wore name tags with their transfer bus number and we paired them up with a buddy to make the move. I will continue to ride the bus to Morton this week to help out. All hands on deck this week as we get into new routine.
5. We will use this week to finish up iReady testing.
6. Fall Picture Day is Thursday, September 10. All ordering is done online after pictures are taken. Be on the lookout for an email. Order forms are not sent home ahead of time. Students may be OOU.
7. Uniform Reminders begin this week. (Please check my Uniform Update email from August 31 for more details.)
8. Falcon Flight is our After-School Homework Help Program. This program is for 3rd – 8th grade students. It is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45pm-3:30pm and is $10 per session. Tuesday, September 15 is our first session. Please message your child’s teacher if you would like more information/permission slips.
CAFETERIA:
1. Free/Reduced Meal Benefits– New this year, families may complete the application directly through their PaySchools account where eligibility status will be determined immediately upon submission. If you think you may qualify, we encourage you to fill out an application. There is a FREE/REDUCED MEAL APPLICATION tab on the right side. Families who qualified last year will need to complete a new application each school year. Please complete by September 15, 2026.
2. Please note that scrambled eggs have been taken off the school lunch menu to accommodate a severe egg allergy in the building. Thank you for your understanding and for keeping our kids safe!
3. In an effort to help cut down large negative balances for the cafeteria staff, we will continue with our procedures for negative lunch balances. We have had great success with this system in the past, so we will give it a go again this year.
