Mr. O’s Weekly News

February 18, 2022

Hello Falcons Parents!

Covid has taken the front seat of my Friday Letter for way too long.  This week, I want to open by saying “Thank You!” to you, our parents, and our faculty/staff for making St. Christopher such an amazing place to work and build the Kingdom of God.  We are receiving some wonderful inquiries from families at other schools.  Theses families are not only from Vandalia, but from all of the surrounding school districts.  These are not only kindergarten families, but families looking for a new home in almost every grade.  When I ask these families why they want to transfer, they always mention a current family who recommended us.  So thank you for recommending us!  And thank you to our teachers for creating such a strong reputation of high quality academics and deep spiritual formation!

COVID Corner:

  • Current Case Rates
    • Local: 256 (v. 500 last week)
    • County: 322 (v. 709 last week)
    • State: 256 (v. 481 last week)

Re-Enrollment for current students is now open.  Please try to complete your re-enrollment before March 1st, when we move to Open Enrollment, and unclaimed spots will be available to new students.  If you have any enrollment questions, please email Mrs. Thompson.

The Book Fair will be February 22 through March 1.

  • Out of Uniform Day will be Tuesday February 22nd (next week).  Students should wear blue for the ocean and our under the sea theme.

A very special Eucharistic Exposition, Adoration & Benediction event will take place in the St. Christopher church on Friday, March 25th at 6:45pm.  If you have never been to an event like this, please do not be intimidated by the fancy name.  You do not need to know or do anything.  Just come and hang out with Jesus.  All ages are welcome!

Catholic Schools Week Sequel (Friday, February 25) will include All-School Bingo and dress as anything that begins with the first letter of your name or last name: (ex. Michael = macaroni, or Bella = ballerina, or David = dinosaur, Plummer = peacock)

Archdiocesan Scholarships

  • The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) is excited to offer a limited number of Welcome Scholarships to Pre-School or Kindergarten students who are the first of their family to attend a Catholic school.

Ohio EdChoice 2022-2023 School Year:

  • Traditional EdChoice: the Designated/Failing School List for the 2022-2023 school year includes Dayton Public, Trotwood, and Northridge.  Students living in those public school districts will receive free tuition at St. Christopher, if they apply for the EdChoice Scholarship.  Please email Mrs. Bradley in our office for more details.
  • Vandalia Butler, Northmont, and Tipp City are not on the list this year for new students, however, if you received Traditional EdChoice for one of these districts in the past, then you will continue to receive it.
  • Expansion EdChoice: the 2022-2023 income eligibility guidelines have been updated as well.
  • More EdChoice information can be found on the Ohio EdChoice website.

  • Please help us recruit for all grades, but especially grades K-2.
  • Northridge Public School District is once again on the failing schools list this year and Northridge students will receive full/free tuition.  If you have friends living in the Northridge School District, please reach out to them.

Have a blessed weekend!

God Bless & Go Falcons!
