Mr. O’s Weekly News

January 8, 2021
Happy New Year Falcon Families!
As we come to the end of a most blessed Christmas season and the start of a new year, it has been great to be in the school building this week. In August, I did not think we would have remained open this long. What a blessing! Thank you families and thank you, teachers! Really, it’s been an amazing partnership.
Learning Models: we had 25% of our student body learning at home this week. 10% will return to school next week, leaving 15% still learning at home.
Car Rider Pick Up: please read the below guidelines. It may not be the perfect solution, but it has evolved over many years of experience. Our primary concern is the safety of students and staff in the parking, and the secondary goal is getting cars in and out of the parking lot quickly.

  • At 2:30 PM, the cones will be removed and you may drive into the school parking lot.
  • If your last name begins with the letters A through L, you should park on the left; letters M through Z should park on the right.
  • At 2:40 PM, the children will begin walking to their cars. At this time, the cones will be put up and, if you arrive after 2:40, you should wait until we dismiss the first sets of cars before you enter the school parking lot.
  • ***No one should leave their parking space until all children have been put into a car.***
  • The school staff will let you know when the first cars can begin leaving.
  • The dismissal of cars will begin with the first car on each side and others will follow in order by pulling straight through the parking spots. No car should ever back out of a parking spot.
  • Please do not park in the church parking lot, walk over to the car rider line, and take students across the parking lot to your car.

Open House (Sunday January 31, 2021):

  • 10:00 AM-12:00 PM: School tours for new students only and by appointment only.
  • 11:00 AM-12:00 PM: Grade-level Google Meets with teachers for all families.
    • Teachers will be available for you to say hello and/or ask questions; they will not be making presentations.
    • No appointments are necessary.
    • Google Meet links will be provided that Friday.

Registration for next year will open on January 31st for current students and new kindergarten students. This is when you can lock in your spot for next year. Open registration for the public will begin on March 1st. Registration details will be forthcoming.
Recruitment & Enrollment: we need your help sharing the St. Christopher story and helping us recruit new students for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. If you know of interested families, please contact Mr. O’.
Calendar Updates:

  • March 1-5: IOWA and CogAT Tests
    • We are making plans to bring all at-home learners into the building for testing. Details will be forthcoming.
    • Please do not plan any appointments for your students during this time. It is difficult to make up these tests.
    • Please do your best to make sure your student gets good sleep and healthy breakfasts during testing week.
  • Friday, April 30: No School for Students – Staff Professional Development Day

The Catholic Education Foundation for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is once again providing needs-based tuition assistance to elementary school students for the 2021-2022 school year.

  • Please click HERE for more information
  • Application Deadline is February 8, 2021
Our Lady of Guadalupe Art Project: During St. Christopher’s Guadías (Guadalupe Days), Mr. Rasor designed a special art project for students in grades K-8. All in-school and at-home students helped paint pieces of an imagined replica of Mary, as she appeared on Juan Diego’s tilma (see below picture). Thank you Mr. Rasor and our very talented students for such a beautiful piece of art! The art will be displayed in the church’s gathering space next week and will be permanently installed in the school lobby.
Have a great weekend!

St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!

St. Christopher, pray for us!

Peace,
Mr. O’
