Mr. O’s Weekly News

December 16, 2020

Happy Advent Falcons!

I am sending this week’s letter early again to remind you about your January 4th decision. If you are sure you will be moving your student from the in-school to at-home learning model starting Monday, January 4th, then please have your student bring home his/her distance learning materials (Chromebook, textbooks, etc.) this Friday, December 18th in order to begin live-streaming on Monday, January 4th.

St. Christopher School will be open the week of January 4th. We will not be using that week as a COVID buffer, as some schools are doing. We know a school closure creates a hardship for some of our families, so we will stay open, but we are asking parents to be extra cautious with student activities over break.

If students are involved in any of the below activities, we ask them to consider moving to the at-home learning model either short term or long term, depending on the situation:

  • Travel (mode): any sort of mass transit (e.g., airplane, train, ship, bus, etc.)
  • Travel (location): any of the states on the Ohio Health Travel Advisory List
    • (https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/families-and-individuals/COVID-19-Travel-Advisory/COVID-19-Travel-Advisory)
  • Competitive Sports: both practices and games, intra and interschool, in and out of state.
  • Mass Gatherings: groups of 10 or more, especially with non-household members and/or if masks are not worn.

This is not mandatory; it is simply a recommendation. You have done an amazing job keeping our school open. Our hope is that families continue to make good decisions through Christmas break and into the spring. We had an amazing run after Thanksgiving break and that is due to the precautions our families are taking outside of school. Thank you for your perseverance! Stay safe and we stay open!

January Registration

  • We will offer 3 registration options:
    1. In-School for January or longer
    2. At-Home for January or longer
    3. At-Home for 1 week and Returning to In-School on Monday, January 11th.
      • This model is for students who prefer a one-week COVID buffer after the break.
  • The registration form will be sent on December 30th at 12:00 Noon. Please do your best to answer the survey within 24 hours.
  • Every student should register.
  • At the end of January, students can switch between models with a one week notice. As always, we will do our best to accommodate special requests.

Friday is an Out of Uniform Day for the entire school. Kindergarten and 1st Grade can wear pajamas and the rest of the school is in Christmas theme/colors.

City BBQ: Thank you to everyone who purchased meals through City Barbeque yesterday! I do not have any numbers yet, but it was extremely busy when I picked up my order.

Have a Blessed Advent and a Merry Christmas!

St. Christopher, pray for us!

Peace, Mr. O’
