Remote-Learning Policy Update
- First and foremost, thank you for your patience as we all learn what is working well and not so well.
- When students switch from the in-class learning model to the at-home learning model, it creates a disruption in learning for all parties involved…sometimes small, but sometimes significant.
- For those reasons, we need to modify our policy. Going forward, remote-learning and live streaming will be allowed only for:
- Students who are registered in or switching to the full-time at-home learning model.
- Students who are self-quarantining because they are considered a “close contact” of someone who tested positive for COIVD-19. These students are asymptomatic but are staying home for the good of the school.
- Students who are isolating at home because they tested positive for COIVD-19 or they suspect they have COVID-19, but, in either case, they are asymptomatic.
- Asymptomatic students may live stream.
- Symptomatic students should not live stream. They are ill and should focus on recovering.
- Regardless of the reason for changing models, all-new live streamers must provide the school with a twenty-four-hour notice. We need one full school day to notify teachers, confirm student’s possession of Chromebook and other necessary materials (e.g., class schedule, textbook, handouts, etc.), and put together a box of missing items for you to pick up for your student.
- We will no longer allow students to Livestream when:
- on vacation.
- staying home due to illness.
- staying home for other personal reasons (e.g., it’s Monday, pajamas are more comfortable, your teacher is out and Mr. O’ is your sub, etc.).
- In summary, if your student is:
- missing school for a non-COVID reason, he/she should not be live streaming.
- missing school for a COVID related reason, we need a twenty-four-hour notice before your student live streams.
- If you are reconsidering your model selection, please send your student to school. In-school learning is superior in every way with the exception of COVID-19 risk…and we are doing our best to minimize that risk.
COVID-19 Guideline Review
- Positive Cases
- St. Christopher School has had zero positive cases. St. Christopher…pray for us!
- If you test positive for COVID-19 or suspect you may have COVID-19, please follow these Isolation Guidelines provided by the Public Health Department.
- Close Contacts
- If you are considered a “close contact” of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 or suspect you may be a “close contact”, please follow these Self-Quarantine Guidelines provided by the Public Health Department.
- Note: It can take 2 to 14 days to show symptoms.
- “Close contact” means you were within 6 feet, for 15 minutes or longer, of the infected person. Wearing a cloth face mask while in close contact may reduce the amount of exposure, but it does not exclude you from being a close contact.
- The close contact window includes 48 hours before the infected person’s illness onset and until his/her isolation period expires, generally 10 days.
Educational Apparel will be selling items in the St. Christopher gym on Thursday October 29th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
- Please wear a mask and enter through the gym doors to the left of the main office doors.
- We will allow 10 people at a time to shop or however many people can be accommodated while maintaining 6 feet of social distance, whichever is less.
- EA will offer a 10% discount on all items, and they accept checks, credit cards, and cash.
School Tours are available for anyone who is interested. If you are a new family and have never seen the inside of St. Christopher School, please send me an email. I am happy to schedule a tour when students are not in the building.
Grades: Please try to check your student’s grades and missing assignments in Option C at least once a week. The process of forming a student must be a partnership between the school and parents. We will do our best to notify you of significant successes and failures, but we need you to be actively involved in the formation process as well.
Halloween will be celebrated by grades 5-8 on Thursday because of Friday Mass. Grades K-4 will still celebrate on Friday. Homemade treat bags should be sent to school 72 hours early while commercially packaged bags of candy can be sent on the day of the party. When in doubt, please send it early.
