Hello and Happy Monday!
Schedule:
A Few Things:
1. i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments are off and running. Junior High did a great job today. We will keep at it this week. Please make sure the kids are getting good rest and eating well in the morning.
2. For those that ride Vandalia Buses: It was a great week of transferring from the one bus at SC to the multiple buses at Morton. A huge thanks to the staff for organizing the kids, giving transfer numbers, etc. It takes a village.
3. Please send some extra prayers up for our 6th Graders and teacher chaperones as they head to the Damascus Retreat this week!
4. On Tuesday, September 9, 3rd-8th Grade participating students will receive the Sacrament of Confession. Our priests will be spending the morning celebrating with us. We will begin after Mass and finish up by lunch time.
5. On Friday, September 12 we will have Crazy Sock/Shoe Day. With their uniform, the kids can wear mismatched socks/shoes, slippers, decorate their shoes (put in pipe cleaners in their laces, etc.). Should be fun!
6. Please see the attached flyers for the City BBQ Fundraiser for September 25. Thank you, PTO, for organizing!
7. We will once again be offering Falcon Flight, our after school study table program. This is for students in Grades 3-8. Students will bring their homework to complete on their own or receive help on the assignment. Falcon Flight is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45pm-3:30pm. The cost is $10 per student, per session. If you are interested in your child participating, please have them ask their homeroom teacher for the sign up packet.
A Few (Conference) Things:
Teachers will be sending a link for conference sign-ups. We will be rolling out the sign ups in two waves. Here are a few more details:
-Thursday Conferences are September 18 from 3:00pm-4:30pm and 5:30pm-7:00pm.
-Friday Conferences are September 19 from 8:00am-12:00pm.
-Conferences will all be in person at school.
-Teachers will be reaching out to their “need to see” families on Wednesday, September 10.
-Teachers will share the sign up link with all families on Friday, September 12.
-Sign ups for conferences will close on Tuesday evening, September 16. This allows teachers time to prepare for their conferences come Thursday/Friday.
A Few (Lunch) Things:
1. Thank you for your attention to lunch accounts. Really, it is a little thing that goes a long way.
2. A la carte snacks are available in the cafeteria for our 4th-8th graders. Once students have finished their lunch, they have the opportunity to go to the snack stand for purchasing treats. The kids must finish their snacks in the cafeteria; they cannot take snacks to their lockers, eat them at recess, or eat them later in their classrooms.
3. We have an Extra Time Table in the cafeteria for those students needing a bit more time to eat. It has worked out really well the past few weeks.
Previous Reminders:
1. Recess volunteers are needed. These volunteers provide a much needed break for our teachers. Plus, we can never have enough eyes out on the playground. Please contact Mrs. Schindler if you are available- jschindler@sc.sgfp.org.
2. If you believe you qualify for Free/Reduced lunch, please complete the form as soon as possible. If you were eligible last year, you still must complete a new form for the new school year. Free/Reduced Meals Application This must be completed by September 15, 2025.
3. Please write your family name in uniform sweatshirts for easier return. Thank you!
